To emphasize that, Kentico has been included in the 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience Platforms. Thanks to the company’s strong future vision and well-considered product roadmap, this is now the fifth time Kentico Software has been positioned in the report since 2016. To guarantee the successful execution of this ambitious product strategy, Kentico Xperience has strengthened the Executive team.
Kentico placed in 2021 Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience Platforms
In the 2021 Magic Quadrant, Gartner—the leading research & advisory company—assessed 16 top vendors in the realm of DXPs. The list includes Kentico (the creator of DXP platform Kentico Xperience) once again positioned as a Niche Player, and seen as a good fit for midsize organizations. In general, the report is designed to describe vendors in specific scopes of expertise. In this case, it is intended to help you understand the DXP market, its challenges and future, as well as specific capabilities and cautions of each of the listed vendors.
Gartner defines a Digital Experience Platform (DXP) as “an integrated and cohesive piece of technology designed to enable the composition, management, delivery and optimization of contextualized digital experiences across multi-experience customer journeys. A DXP can provide optimal digital experiences to a variety of customers, including consumers, partners, employees, citizens, and students.”

Building a next-generation product
Gartner’s annual Magic Quadrant evaluation is based on specific criteria, analyzing the company’s overall completeness of vision and ability to execute—both of which are main investment focus points for Kentico Xperience on a long-term basis. To not fall behind in these efforts, Kentico Xperience is standing in front of a series of strategic steps leading to a next-generation DXP.
“We intend to provide our customers and partners with a powerful tool that is up-to-date and easy to use. It’s therefore essential to never stop innovating. In the past months, we’ve worked hard on creating a roadmap of how to get our product to the next level. Thanks to our clear vision to help businesses boost their digital transformation—with improved customer journey analytics, SaaS offering, AI and automation capabilities, and much more—we now know what to do to push the product development in the right direction,” explains Matej Stefanik, new VP Product Kentico Xperience.
The intention is to shorten our release cycles to accelerate our innovation path. Keeping in mind the nature of product releases up to now, the idea of releasing new functionality every few months presents possibly the most fundamental change. “We wanted to simplify the process of adopting Kentico’s new versions for our customers. Therefore, we’ve decided to make the next release cycles—or Refreshes, as we call them—a lot shorter. Thanks to that, everyone will be able to stay up to date with the latest product version, effortlessly,” adds Matej Stefanik.
The journey to the most modern DXP in the market
As one of the first platforms on the market, Kentico Xperience already supports .NET Core MVC for building customer projects. Now, the company is also going through a back end rewrite to .NET Core, which only enhances their position of an innovator. However, the product modernization isn’t about a back end rewrite exclusively. Other areas, such as digital commerce and digital marketing, will be subject to optimization too, mainly from the user experience perspective.
The product team has presented five key improvement points to begin with:
- Focus on the low code/no code approach: business users, content editors, and digital marketers should be able to work more independently, without having to rely on developers.
- Boost automation by using artificial intelligence and machine learning: more features will be added to help users automate the workflow, such as content classification, automatic assignment of tags or categories, recommendation of appropriate pictures, automated sentiment analysis, and personalization.
- Cloud-first solution and SaaS (Software as a Service) offering: updates to the latest version, running on the optimal servers, maintenance, uptime, and many other aspects will be taken care of by Kentico Xperience, to boost the efficiency of users’ individual projects.
- Faster release cycles: it will only take a few weeks to deliver new functionalities, which will increase flexibility of the offered solution and prevent dramatic changes between versions.
- Leveraging cutting-edge technology: Microsoft .NET Core will help us secure the highest standard, adaptability, and usability of Kentico Xperience for its users’ unique projects.
Kentico Xperience’s customers and partners can look forward to the first Refresh at the end of quarter one 2021. Its key focus will lie on additional .NET Core MVC Support, Search and Ease of Use.
Boosting the improvements by strengthening the Executive team
Along with modernizing the product, the company is also investing in modernizing the organization to deliver a true future-proof product for its customers. After dividing the company into two dedicated product divisions in 2020—Kentico Xperience and Kentico Kontent—each division had been working hard on building their own strong Executive team to guide them on their journey to meeting their goals and ambitions.
With the beginning of 2021, Kentico Xperience has finalized its efforts in establishing just such a team. From February on, Dominik Pinter—former VP Product—will become the new Managing Director of the entire Xperience division. Dominik, who has been diligently fostering the product vision, will continue with a goal of modernizing Kentico Xperience business as a whole.
Meanwhile, Matej Stefanik will take over the role of VP Product within Kentico Xperience. Matej, who has entered this position as former VP of Product Management & Product Marketing in Y Soft, is now about to continue in the well-elaborated product vision. Matej and Dominik have successfully collaborated in the past, which only enhances the company’s confidence that a smooth journey for product development can be expected.
Last but not least, Petr Klouda—current VP Sales EMEA & LATAM—will become the new Kentico Xperience VP Global Sales. This structural change is the final piece of the jigsaw puzzle that needed to fall into place. Petr will now manage the entire Kentico Xperience sales organization, across all regions. This way, the company’s efforts in building stronger relationships with our clients and partners are being supported properly, which plays a key role in modernizing the sales organization.
