Anglicare WA is a prominent not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving lives through counselling and support services across Western Australia. With a broad range of programs supporting vulnerable communities, Anglicare WA needed a website that clearly communicated its services, reduced internal strain, and empowered teams to manage content efficiently. The new website reflects their commitment to real community impact while providing a scalable digital foundation for the future.

Challenges

Anglicare WA saw an opportunity to enhance their website’s performance, but first needed clarity on what was limiting engagement and retention. Before the rebuild, ALYKA led a comprehensive User Research project to pinpoint the drivers behind the current experience. Through data analysis and stakeholder consultation, several improvement areas emerged: clearer service information, more intuitive navigation, more consistent content, and a smoother digital experience to make everyday updates easier for staff.

The discovery phase also highlighted opportunities to improve access and content agility within their existing Sitecore setup. Adding users often meant additional licences, affecting how widely the platform could be used. Fixed page layouts meant many structural changes benefited from developer involvement, slowing iteration. These insights helped shape the move to Xperience by Kentico, providing a more flexible foundation for ongoing improvement.

Solutions

ALYKA approached the project with a research-led strategy, using user insights to shape the new information architecture, design system, and technical implementation. With a clear understanding of user needs, the team migrated Anglicare WA from Sitecore to Xperience by Kentico, delivering a more flexible, scalable, and cost-effective platform.

Unlike their previous CMS's user-based licensing model, Xperience by Kentico enables unlimited editors with role-based access control, allowing Anglicare WA to scale their content team without additional licence costs. Low-code tools and flexible content architecture give the team greater control over layouts and updates, freeing developers to focus on innovation rather than routine support.

Favorite new site features:

  • A centralized Content Hub with defined workspaces and granular permissions, allowing teams to separate content by service area while maintaining governance and compliance.

  • A structured Services Directory with advanced search filters, enabling users to find relevant support by service type and location, with dynamic pages generated automatically.

  • A statewide service override function that eliminates manual duplication when services are available across multiple locations.

  • An accessibility-first design system embedded into the front-end experience from the outset.

The hybrid headless architecture allows content to be updated once and deployed across multiple pages and channels, reducing errors and ensuring consistency across the site.

Why Kentico?

Xperience by Kentico provided Anglicare WA with the flexibility, governance, and security needed to support a large not-for-profit operating across multiple service areas.
