Kentico CMS 2.0 Introduces Browser-Based Web Development
Brno, Czech Republic, November 21, 2006 – Kentico CMS 2.0, the web content management system designed for ASP.NET developers, has been released. The new version enables developers to build dynamic web sites and portals through a web browser, without writing custom code in Visual Studio.
Kentico Software releases a new version of their web content management system. The new version simplifies the way developers create dynamic web sites. It allows them to assemble web sites from web parts (portlets). The web parts, such as menu, listing or search box, provide the same level of flexibility as the commonly used server controls, so the developer rarely needs to open Visual Studio 2005 and write custom code. With several built-in modules, such as on-line forms, newsletter or image gallery, they can create the whole web site without single line of code.
“We’ve been listening to our customers for the past two years [since 1.0 release] and we found that Visual Studio development using server controls and custom code may be too complex for web designers with basic ASP.NET knowledge. We decided to make their job easier by combining the web part/portlet technology known from portal solutions with full-featured content repository,” says Petr Palas, founder of Kentico Software.
“However, we went further and provided them with same flexibility of design, navigation and web part configuration as if they were developing the web site in Visual Studio, in a friendly browser-based interface which improves developer’s productivity and requires less expertise in .NET programming,” he adds.
The new version also comes with revamped user interface, multi-site support and it greatly simplifies the web deployment process by allowing administrators to export the development web site into a single file and restore it easily on the production server.
