Welcome to November release of Kentico Newsletter.
November is a busy month for all web developers who try to meet their deadlines. If you're one of them, you should definitely take a look at Kentico CMS 2.0, the new generation of content management system that will help you deliver dynamic web sites with less effort than ever.
Boost your productivity with Kentico CMS 2.0
We are happy to announce that Kentico CMS 2.0 is now available.
It is a major upgrade to the previous versions. It comes with:
new portal engine enabling rapid development of web sites
browser based development without coding (unless you want to...)
new user-friendly interface
and many enhancements and improvements in the existing functionality
We have addressed most of your complaints and suggestions, such as:
easy deployment - it's no longer necessary to create web site in the root to keep the links working on the production server!
easy document sorting
automatic paging support for repeater and datalist
easy configuration of multiple languages
more flexible workflow
and many others...
The new portal engine and browser-based development
The biggest improvement comes with the new development model. The new version allows you to build the whole web site in a friendly browser-based interface that you may know from portal systems, such as Microsoft Share Point or DotNetNuke.
However, Kentico CMS goes further and combines the easy-to-use portal engine with unmatched flexibility of page layout, design and site structure and a rich set of content management features that you already know from version 1.9.
The new version supports both classic ASPX page templates and the portal page templates that are based on web parts. The new system of web parts allows you to easily build custom web parts for displaying content or adding custom functionality. However, in most cases, you can use one of 30+ built-in web parts, without any programming.
We strongly recommend that you switch to the new portal engine at least for your new projects so that you can fully leverage all features of the second generation of Kentico CMS and, of course, so that you can benefit from rapid development with Kentico CMS 2.0!
You can find more details on the new version here.
The road map for the next versions is published here.
... and yes, this newsletter is written in the new Newsletter module that enables web designers to create newsletter templates with editable regions...
