Environment & Quality
With Kentico’s “Trees for bugs” initiative, environment and quality go hand in hand. Founded on this environmental initiative, we physically plant a tree for every bug found in the latest version of Kentico CMS or EMS. Moreover, we promise to fix all reported bugs within 7 working days, which is quite a unique commitment for the software industry.
Though the 7 days bug fixing policy ensures our product’s increasing reliability; our high standard of quality is achieved at a much earlier stage. Each Kentico developer follows a 30 page document of coding rules to ensure they produce clean, easy-to-understand, reusable, scalable and secure code, giving the impression that the entire Kentico code was written by a single developer.
Other implemented quality-assurance processes include:
- Multiple levels of reviews
- Regular feedback from senior-level colleagues
- Advanced tracking tools for defect and bug tracking
- "Bughunter" – an internal tool for automatic bug finding
- 2 dedicated testers per development team, devoted to and specializing in the particular features each team produces.
Besides testing each new feature, we carry out both manual and automatic overall tests including integration, performance, interface, unit tests and more. These standard tests constitute thousands of working hours for every new version.
The quality of our 24/7 support services is not only measurable by the fact that in the last two years, we responded to 98.6 % of received tickets within the first 24 hours (including weekends and holidays!), but also by the quality, completeness and friendliness of the responses given.
Many IT companies outsource their support centers to Asia and other cheaper developing markets. But for us, customer support is as important as the software itself, so we were keen to open our second support center in Seattle, USA, to be closer to our clients.
Unlike other IT companies, Kentico Software has been growing organically, without any external funding or loans since its foundation back in 2004. It has been profitable since its first year on the market.
The company’s growth is well illustrated not only by its ever-growing number of employees and foreign company offices but by having been awarded the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 four years running.
Our company maintains a healthy business model and all revenues are reinvested for increased customer value and further growth potential. Because Kentico Software was founded by and is still owned by a single person, we don't have to give up our long term visions to meet the short-term demands of investors; we can focus solely on helping our clients create successful websites.
Openness and transparency
Openness and transparency form the basis of our company values. Very few CMS vendors in our segment reveal their pricing, product details and roadmap publicly on their websites.
It’s even rarer that a proprietary CMS can be bought with full source code, giving the buyers complete knowledge of the technology and 100% assurance that their web project won’t go to a dead end..
The product roadmap informs our current clients about planned development and they can actively influence it by suggesting new features and improvements via our Kentico UserVoice page.
“Trees for bugs” illustrates another form of our openness; showing the list of bugs found and the developers responsible for them. Not only do we fix found bugs within 7 working days but enjoy the opportunity to help the environment at the same time!
We value internal transparency too – any employee can check
the metrics and results of any department.
Together with our business partners, we aim to achieve sustainable, profitable growth on the foundation of mutual trust. We have built our partnerships through our Solution, Hosting, Training and Technology Partners who help us deliver a truly complete solution to our clients.
At the end of each year, we donate money to help those less fortunate through the Czech based non-profit organization The People in Need, which helps people in countries around the world affected by war or natural disasters.
We also support other non-profit organizations as Konto Bariéry 77 or the Environmental Partnership.
We believe that autonomy, mastery & purpose encourage the best working environment at the same time as generating the greatest motivation.
Autonomy is achieved through "Innovation Time", which offers every developer the possibility to work on his or her own project one day a week.
To help achieve mastery, we encourage specialization-focused training to every employee. Other company-provided education includes language courses and soft skills training.
Kentico is a customer-driven company that tries to work closely with its clients. Its purpose remains the same as the day it was founded; Helping create successful websites.
The management hierarchy is as flat as possible, which encourages open conversation across the company. Our city center offices are easily reachable and we favor small, comfortable offices to open-space workplaces. And yes, we have chill out rooms just like Google.
A regular supporter of communities focused on web development, .NET and other related technologies, Kentico also provide a variety of sponsorship options, including backing of .NET focused events like codecamps, barcamps or givecamps.
Another community project is our program for .NET user groups, which offers free website licenses, free .NET user group starter sites and also their hosting provided by our hosting partner, Applied Innovations.
Kentico Marketplace allows developers to offer their work to the community for free or as paid add-ons and to enable others to benefit from their skills and expertise.
The growing community around Kentico led us to start the MVP program back in 2010. This program is aimed at giving recognition to individuals based on their community participation and evangelistic activities
in the CMS and .NET communities.
