One of the Kentico CMS unique features is its easy installation and deployment to the live server. We have designed the system, so that that process of installation and deployment is as simple as possible, without system configuration changes.
Shared Hosting Support
Kentico CMS can be used with common shared hosting plans. Once you have a hosting plan configured for ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005, you can easily install Kentico CMS without direct access to the server. You only copy the web site project files over FTP and then you complete the database setup through the browser-based interface.
It means you do not need administrator's access to the server and you do not need a direct access to the Microsoft SQL Server from your local computer.
It's recommended that you choose one of our hosting partner whose servers were tested for compatibility with Kentico CMS. If you choose some other hoster, please make sure that they support full trust permissions and allow ASP.NET applications to write on the disk.
Easy Deployment to Production Server
You can develop your web site on your local machine or your local development server. Then, you only export the web site into a single file and restore it on the Kentico CMS installation on your production server. It's not necessary to restore the database on the live server.
Easy Change Management
When you make a modification to some web part, page template or CSS stylesheet on your local development machine, you can simply export selected objects (web part/page template, document type, etc.) and import it on the live server.
