Upgrades to a New Version
Major upgrades (6.0, 7.0, etc.) are provided free of charge only to the customers who own a license with a valid maintenance. The other clients need to purchase major upgrades.
Minor upgrades (5.5, 6.5, etc.) are provided free of charge to all customers who are authorized to use the related major version (5.0, 6.0).
Upgrades to a Higher License or Edition
If you need to upgrade a single license to a higher license (e.g. to the Server License, Ultimate License or to Kentico EMS) it's possible to purchase the upgrade at any time and we will provide you with credit based on your initial purchase.
For example a client that has just purchased in the last two months will receive a 100% credit equal to the value of their purchase towards the new license that they are upgrading to. A client in the first 12 months will receive 75% of the value of their license as a credit, after 12 months they will receive a 50% credit, and after 4 years a 25% credit towards a new purchase. Please note that the client needs to have valid maintenance for their license.
Below, you can find an example of customer who purchases Kentico CMS 1 Website Base License for $1,999 on June 1, 2012:
The customer later decides to upgrade to Kentico CMS 1 Website Ultimate License ($4,499). Depending on the time when she decides to upgrade, she will pay the following amount for the upgrade:
