Please note: If you run your web site with DiscountASP.NET you need to use a Windows Server 2008 hosting option and you will need to use Kentico CMS 3.1 or later.
The setup of Kentico CMS at DiscountASP.NET is very straightforward:
1. Sign up for a hosting plan at http://www.discountasp.net/go/go.aspx?i=2588. Choose to use the Windows Server 2008 hosting. If you already use a Windows Server 2003 hosting, please ask DiscountASP.NET support for transferring your web site to a Windows Server 2008 machine.
2. You will receive an e-mail from DiscountASP.NET with logon information for the Control Panel.
4. Go to Account Management -> Account Info/Edit and find the FTP address. Go to Tools & Utilities -> IIS Tools -> ASP.NET version and set the Application Pool Pipeline Mode to Classic.
5. Go to Database Management -> MS SQL 2005 -> Add SQL 2005 Database and order a new database.
6. You will receive an e-mail from DiscountASP.NET when the database is available.
7. Run Kentico Web Installer and install Kentico CMS on your local machine:
1. Choose target folder.
2. Finish the installation process.
8. Copy the files installed on your disk by the Kentico Web Installer to the DiscountASP.NET server over FTP.
1. You can either upload the files directly in the root of your site or you can upload your web application to a subdirectory.
2. If you choose to upload your files to a subdirectory, you will need to configure it as an application directory in your DASP controls panel/Application Tool Manager.
3. If you do not have a full license key, contact support@kentico.com and obtain a 30 day trial key.
9. Open the web application in your web browser and you will be displayed with database setup screen. Enter the database connection details that you find in the DiscountASP.NET Control Panel -> MS SQL 2005 -> MS SQL 2005 Databases. The password is the same as your Control Panel password by default. Choose to use an existing database and enter your the database name.
10. The system creates tables in your database.
11. Now you can either create a sample site or start the New site wizard.
12. You're done.
