We are sometimes surprised how our clients use Kentico CMS. Although it was designed primarily for public facing websites, we have recently seen quite a few clients choosing Kentico CMS for their intranet, including Brussels Airlines or Shaw Industries who use Kentico CMS for over 80 departmental sites accessed by 30,000 users (read the case study here). And I'm not talking about clients who would do that accidentally. In fact most of them considered several other solutions, most often Microsoft Sharepoint. However, they discovered that Kentico was a better fit for them, whether it was for its ease of use, content management features, flexible development model or for its cost efficiency.
Following this trend, we decided to better support the intranet scenarios and added a new set of features into the next version, Kentico CMS 5.5 R2:
- Document libraries
- WebDAV support
- Workgroups
- Project management
- Sharepoint 2010 integration
- Kentico Intranet Portal Solution - a ready-to-use intranet site
You can learn more about the upcoming new version in this blog post .
We have just released a beta version of Kentico CMS 5.5 R2 that is available for Kentico Partners in the Partner Portal. Now we are doing the final testing and the final version is scheduled for the middle of December 2010.

Competitive Upgrade Special Offer
Because the CMS market is highly saturated and deals with complex requirements, some customers might have ended up with a CMS that doesn’t meet their requirements or long term goals. In some cases, they might have found out that the system they’ve bought doesn’t provide the level of functionality needed, or is inextensible, inflexible or unscalable. It might be unreliable or simply buggy—or just so confusing for end users that they never really start to use it.
Switching to a new CMS might be a painful process, due the cost of human resources and balancing the additional costs.
Kentico has decided to make this process easier by offering customers who have bought a CMS system such as Sitecore, Episerver or Ektron the opportunity to purchase a discounted Kentico CMS license.
The
Upgrade Your Web Possibilities offer is intended only for companies that have already purchased a competing CMS. This offer is available until
the end of 2010. For more information, contact the sales team at:
